Vintage Metal Sign

This is a very cool looking vintage Art Deco metal funeral director sign. Based on its design, I would estimate it dates circa 1930s or 1940s. It measures 29 5/8 inches wide by 11 inches high by 1 1/4 inches thick (75.2 cm x 28 cm x 3.2 cm). I’m fairly certain it’s made of hard painted aluminum. The insert in the back is made of black painted wood. The letters are attached to the sign with screws through the back. I’m not sure why there are scratches on the back or the purpose of that rust colored putty. As you can see in the photos, there are stains, scuff marks and scattered chipping on the gray background. The short light gray strip going along the left side in the front is a little loose, but still holds on fine. I tried to find Harold F. Horne on Google, but to no avail.
