30 by 24 inch Texas interstate 35W highway sign. The sign is of recent manufacture, and is retired from state use. It is made to the 1970 federal specification that is still on the road today in many states, complete with the state name being present. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is screen print on engineer grade sheeting on aluminum. It lies completely straight and flat, with patina commensurate with its service. Signs guaranteed old, original, authentic. These are custom made metal art pieces. This one is from recycled steel washing machine side panels. These are handmade metal sign letters meant to embrace the nostalgic look of the past. They are artist made (in the USA) from reused vintage steel and often repurposed metal parts but with all new wiring and electric sockets. I have always been fascinated with industrial objects of the past as well as using recycled elements, so these latest pieces are a combination of both. 16 x 16 inch Massachusetts state route 140 highway marker. Made to the 1947 specification in which the state used aluminum – extremely prevalent at the time – and a variety of reflective materials before finally settling on wooden signs in 1949. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign reflective panels containing the number “140” on white paint on aluminum. It lies completely straight and flat with patina commensurate with its service.
