DEALER WHEEL BALANCING SIGN. ORIGINAL 1961 HUNTER Wheel Balancer Balancing DEALER GARAGE DIST SIGN w/BOX. This Sign Origianl has a LOT of Character. This is a Painted Metal Sign Advertising Hunter Wheel Balancing Service. Its a Nice Sized Sign Measuring 37-1/2 x 27 and I’m Really liking the Mid Century Influence on the Design. As far as Condition goes, Its in beautiful original condition. It lived its entire life in the original box in the basement of an Old Auto Parts Distributor. The only drawback, if that’s what you want to call it, I call it character and patina which only comes from 60 years waiting to be rescued, is a small amount of rust along the right edge where it rested vertically on its side in the basement and the moisture on the basement floor caused some minor rusting on that edge. The box is a 6 out of 10, the right edge also took some moisture damage on the cardboard but, it’s the original box, which rarely survives. (please view the pictures closely) Whoever buys this Will Be Very Happy. Its a Really Great Looking Piece for your collection, shop, restaurant or business. They operated at the same location : 339-345 N Gay st from 1913 until the neighborhood declined and the last heir retired in 2001. They were parts distributors as well as jobbers for their own LIGHTNIN Parts line as well as for most of the top brands of the day. This may not sound different from an auto zone except Loock was responsible for placing products such as Champion Spark Plugs, Quaker State and Gates belts (to name a VERY few products) into EVERY private and municipal garage that used them in a 5 state area. As the 22 floors of samples that they left behind will attest… I said 22 FLOORS of Samples! Loock tried to sell ANY quality product that they thought had a chance. Of course, as jobbers they were responsible for placing advertising in the businesses that they catered to as well. There was no working elevator and the buildings were 4 floors tall with a basement…………………………… And they NEVER threw ANYTHING of value AWAY! It took us 2 months full time to sort through and we are just now starting to offer what we have found.
