This 26.2-mile stretch of Interstate was chosen to honor the first American in space because it passes Derry, New Hampshire, Shepard’s hometown. An original of these is most likely to be found in active service along Interstate 93 in New Hampshire. 24 by 24 inch New Hampshire state route 1-A highway sign. The sign is made to the 1983 specification which introduced the Old Man of the Mountain design. This style was replaced with the modern black-border style starting around 2001. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is screen print on high intensity grade (honeycomb) sheeting on aluminum. It lies almost completely straight and flat, with patina commensurate with its service. Signs guaranteed old, original, authentic.
