Manitoba Highway 8 route marker. Up for sale today is this Manitoba highway 8 sign. This sign is made to the exact 1926 provincial standard that was used in the initial signage before being replaced by a minor variant in 1929, and then one in the 1950s that had a smaller bison and larger numerals. Enthusiasts of other North American great plains jurisdictions may recognize the layout and numerals being identical to the first-generation Nebraska route marker. If you would like a different route number, I can certainly make that as well! An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. Most of them have vanished from the back roads of Manitoba many years ago, replaced with the modern issue. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without paying an arm and a leg on the collector’s market. The sign is 12 by 12 inches along the diagonal sides, and weighs 3 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style? I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from the era. The watermark and bear logo in the design preview will not appear on the actual sign. We have begun adding a watermark because we have had problems with other companies copying our artwork to make lesser-quality imitations. This particular sign dates to 1993. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is screen print on engineer grade sheeting on aluminum.
