This is a Highway to the Stars vintage genuine porcelain sign and it is in excellent condition, with vibrant and rich colors just as it had when originally manufactured. STILL has a nice glossy shine as it is actual porcelain. A true collectible piece that displays beautifully. Minor chips in the outer field, as well as some moderate rusting around the mounting holes, as is to be expected from being displayed outside and hanging in the elements. Really, beautiful layers of porcelain. It is USED and was hanging being displayed outside. Made to the exact 1959 state standards, as used until the 2000s by the state of California on its freeways. This is an exact replica of one posted above the westbound lanes of I-8 at its interchange with I-5. The original is an exceptionally old porcelain enamel sign that has never been retrofitted with reflective buttons, which is quite the rare find! An original of these is not only very rare to find scrapped, but is a herculean effort to transport; many still enjoy their active service on the highways. The original of this sign is also seventeen and a half feet wide, so we’ve scaled it down for more wieldy display. Here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without chancing legal trouble… The sign is flat printed on steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 6 lb.
