36 by 15 inch New Mexico state highway guide sign. Destinations of DORA and LOVINGTON, in the southeast corner of the state. The sign is made to the 1927 specification that formalized black text on a white background. New Mexico made these signs starting in 1927 out of sturdy steel before switching to wood by the 1930s or so. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is black roll-coated highlights on white paint on embossed steel. It lies completely straight and flat, and has been restored to the correct colors and finish.
