Tennessee US Route 11E route marker. Up for sale today is this Tennessee US Route 11E sign. Made to the exact 1926 federal standard, as used between then and 1948 along this famous highway. An original of these is very hard to come by. They were retired from the roads of Tennessee long ago, with most of them being destroyed and only a few examples circulating on the collector’s market. An original would easily run many hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the collector’s market. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without breaking the bank. The sign is 16 by 16 inches, and weighs 5 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! The B and A of Bagley have been repainted. The O on outboard has been painted and slightly the U. The J and O on Johnson have also been painted back in. Anything to the left where the damage is has also been painted. The wing on the left has also been painted back on. Everything to the right is all original. Here is a great piece that you do not see everyday! Across the top of the sign there is the larger wording of Johnson Outboard Motors across the top. In the lower section of the sign there is the local person advertising. Here is a great original embossed tin sign that has some light surface rust and some minor paint ware, overall a great sign for the collection. I do have a white inventory sticker on the sign to the right of the boat, below the LA wording. The dimensions of the sign are about 19 inches wide and 24 inches tall.
