Michigan US Route 27 route marker. Up for sale today is this Michigan US Route 27 sign. Made to the exact 1926 federal standard, as used between then and 1948 along this famous highway. An original of these is very hard to come by. They were retired from the roads of Michigan long ago, with most of them being destroyed and only a few examples circulating on the collector’s market. An original would easily run many hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the collector’s market. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without breaking the bank. The sign is 16 by 16 inches, and weighs 5 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel replica sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style-often with the state name omitted! In 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This sign features the custom font which Michigan used for many years instead of the usual federal highway sign fonts. This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 2 lb. And is 12 by 12 inches. It is a non-reflective sign-perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. If you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one!
