Vintage Late 1950s Early’60s Coca-Cola Metal Fishtail Calendar Holder Coke Sign. Came out of grandfather’s barn during an era when things were used, not collected. Decided to leave in its current condition. Sign is solid for its age with fading, chips & minor rusting per photos. Would look great in any decorating scheme wanting that farm fresh, rustic look. Calendar is not original but from December, 1986. Calendar is in original, though, damaged packaging & calendar paper is faded with yellowing. Calendar added for a complete package. Th is vintage Coca-Cola calendar holder / sign was made in the late’50s or early’60s for promotional purposes in soda fountains, diners, grocery stores and such. The paper from the remainder of the pad has yellowed the white paint a bit underneath it, but this is not seen when used for its intended purpose. Speaking of notepads / paper, this has been found one of two ways over the years, and if memory serves, both are discussed in one or more of Petretti’s Coke books. This was available with a calendar pad or with a blank paper pad so that notes could be written on it. Both signs / holders are the same, so only the pad would be different. So of course today, you can easily put whatever kind of pad you prefer on this sign. Changing the pad out is simple with the installed peg screws. These are the ORIGINAL screws that were issued with this sign. Many people have lost them over the years and find “close-enough” replacements, but these are the ones you want. The back has a few light scuffs but is mostly clean overall and has NO rust. The little hang tab (nail hole) at the top of the sign was designed to be bent back, but it never was. There’s not a lot else I can say about this wonderful piece. It’s in beautiful condition and I have attached a very nice price on it. Measurements: 3 ft long & 1 ft tall & 4 in wide. I took this unit apart, cleaned it and reversed the sailboat scene (better condition). There is a 25 watt fluorescent bulb used. It is well constructed by Lakeside Plastics of Minneapolis & Chicago. The housing is a relatively heavy gauge sheet metal and has 3 2.5 diameter ports partially open to allow heat to escape. 3 ports were left closed. There are scratches on the bubble and upper left corner of frame is marred. The upper left corner of sailboat scene has a crease in it. There is a wire in back to hang this to the wall.
