Texas Interstate 610 route marker. Up for sale today is this Texas Interstate 610 route sign. Made to the exact 1961 standard from the origins of the Eisenhower interstate highway system. The wider shields came with the revision of 1961-previously, three-digit route markers were the same size as two-digit, but with narrower numerals. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style-often with the state name omitted! -in 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 7 lb. And is 21 by 18 inches. It is a non-reflective sign-perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. If you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one! This is a high quality, heavy steel replica sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. The Phoenix beltway loops were originally signed with colored route markers like this-blue for 101, brown for 202, black for 303-at the system’s inception in 1988. Due to problems with the signs fading in the desert sun, they were replaced with the usual black-and-white Arizona markers in the 2000s. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. Most of them have vanished from the highways of Arizona many years ago, replaced with the modern issue. Georgia interstate 285 highway sign. U p for sale today is this Georgia I-285 Atlanta Loop sign, from the opening ceremony of October 15th, 1969, when the road was completed all the way around Atlanta with at least two lanes in each direction. Nowadays of course it’s up to about six lanes in each direction, and a travel speed of 90. Or is that 90 lanes with a travel speed of six? A n original of these is not only very rare to find scrapped, but is a herculean effort to transport; also, as far as I know, they only made one and probably discarded it immediately (along with good old Ax-Handle Les). So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without having to dust off the time machine. The sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 32 pounds, 10 ounces. The freeway signs in use in the field are much more colossal – this one is a precise rescaling of the freeway style sign down to a much more manageable 40×32.
