I have a Retired “Rare” Welcome City of Pittsburgh 1980s HIGHWAY METAL SHIELD ROAD SIGN 36″ x 30″. This is a Very Rare Retired Welcome City of Pittsburgh with the Crest logo. The size is 36″ inches x 30″ inches. He told me these were the Old Blue signs with crest logo. He’s a huge Pittsburgh sports fan and he had just about anything rare and unique you can think about in sports wise. The blue and logo are in nice condition and it has the reflective glow when you flash it with light at night. It does have some wear on the edge as you can see in the photos. Has normal scratches and normal wear, this sign is From the 1980s and it was in the out door environment during its time. Made to the exact 2009 federal standards, as used starting in the 2010s by the state of Pennsylvania on its freeways. An original of these is not only very rare to find scrapped, but is a herculean effort to transport; many still enjoy their active service on the highways. The original of this sign is also over 15 feet wide, so we’ve scaled it down for more wieldy display. This particular route runs for 84.427 mi. (135.872 km), and is a major auxiliary route in the Allegheny Plateau of Pennsylvania, specifically in the Pittsburgh area. The sign features great Wildlife graphics with a man with his hunting dog front and center. In the lower left corner there is the signature of the print artist, of H. Hintermeister, who is well known for his wildlife art which often includes bear in his work and prints, there is the a set of bears in the background. On the lower section of the sign there is the advertising in the center. In the lower right corner of the sign there is the small fine print wording of Pittsburgh Brewing Co. Here is a great sign that you do not come across often, the sign has some minor paint ware, mostly along the edges, but overall a nice sign for display. I do have a white inventory sticker in the upper left corner of the sign. The dimensions of this item is about 26 inches wide by 18 inches tall.
