Made to the exact mid-1930s provincial specification that was in use until the late 1940s, when a differently shaped route marker was introduced. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. Most of them have vanished from the back roads of Nova Scotia many years ago, replaced with the modern issue. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without paying an arm and a leg on the collector’s market. The sign is 12 by 19 inches, and weighs 3 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel replica sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This sign is made to the exact 1926 provincial standard that was used in the initial signage before being replaced by a minor variant in 1929, and then one in the 1950s that had a smaller bison and larger numerals. Enthusiasts of other North American great plains jurisdictions may recognize the layout and numerals being identical to the first-generation Nebraska route marker. 45 by 60 centimeter (approximately 18 by 24 inch) inch Prince Edward Island provincial route 152 highway sign. The sign is made to the 1960s specification which introduced the green and white route markers, with the traditional four oak design that had been used on route markers since their introduction to PEI in the 1940s. This particular sign dates to just after the metric conversion of the late 1970s: the oval holes accommodate channel posts with holes that are spaced either 1 inch or 2.5 cm apart! Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is screen print on engineer grade sheeting on aluminum. It lies completely straight and flat, with patina commensurate with its service.
