This design was supplanted by the modern shield style-often with the state name omitted! In 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 6 lb. And is 18 by 18 inches. It is a non-reflective sign-perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. If you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one! The route was numbered US highway 91 in 1926, and then the parallel interstate 15 was built in the 1950s and 1960s. The sign features both the Auto Club of Southern California logo as well as the beehive symbol of the state of Utah. An original of these, complete with the logo of the Automobile Club of Southern California, would cost many thousands of dollars if it ever came to the market.
