New York City 70th Street and Amsterdam Avenue sign. Up for sale today is this New York City West 70th street sign, which faced Amsterdam Avenue. The sign is made to the 1910s specification used by the city to designate this famous street in the heart of New York City. This is the last style of porcelain sign before retroreflective signage, unfortunately not in the distinct shape any longer, were introduced in 1950s. I can of course make any street, any block number, found anywhere in the Big Apple, and everywhere else too! This sign is double-sided. Each side features a complementary legend: one side with the arrow pointing left, the other side with the arrow pointing right, so that they point in the same direction on the physical sign. T he sign is the original size of 22 by 12 inches, and weighs about 5 pounds, 3 ounces. This is a high quality, heavy steel remake , very much reminiscent of the classic porcelain appearance of the original signs. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Would you like a street name or block number not seen here?
