Featuring the late 1950’s’new’ logo and bottle design, this porcelain or enamel advertising sign on metal was acquired from the son of a general store owner in upstate Vermont where it was on display for many years. The new style bottle on the right sets next to the logo with the text’Enjoy a Fresh New Taste! Above, all on a turquoise blue background with a dark green stripe border. Sign is signed’ STOUT SIGN CO. #1127′ on lower right corner. Sign measures 31 1/4″ wide wide by 11 2/4″ high. Six screw holes are present – three top, three bottom. 1960s genuine, NOT repro ESSO Extra Motor Oil Metal Sign. M easures 24 x 19 at its widest part, the bottom – its slightly asymmetrical, narrower at the top. I assume its one part of a garage forecourt display stand for motor oil. Its in the condition you see in the pictures. Dirty, dented, paint marks and someone has shot at the back of it with an air rifle. In the USA they shoot their signs with proper guns! I guess our own brand of mindless thuggery is somewhat milder.
