36 by 15 inch New Mexico state highway guide sign. Destinations of DORA and LOVINGTON, in the southeast corner of the state. The sign is made to the 1927 specification that formalized black text on a white background. New Mexico made these signs starting in 1927 out of sturdy steel before switching to wood by the 1930s or so. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is black roll-coated highlights on white paint on embossed steel. It lies completely straight and flat, and has been restored to the correct colors and finish. 16 by 16 inch Pennsylvania state route 345 highway sign. The sign is made to the 1926 specification which is the earliest style of the classic 16 diecut keystone. This variant is embossed, and has the word ROUTE up top: they changed to PENNA in 1940 to match the new Penna Turnpike signage. Complete with the official keystone stamp of the Pennsylvania Road Department at lower right. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is black roll-coated highlights on white paint on embossed steel. It lies completely straight and flat, with patina commensurate with its service. Signs guaranteed old, original, authentic. Very nice unrestored 100% original California license plate topper. 11×3 inches; white legend on red background. Completely straight and flat, with excellent original paint as seen in the photos. Condition is New Old Stock- never used. Fresh out of the barn! Color on back matches California 1921 plates, but I think this is a bit newer – this style has been seen often around 1926-35. For sale: Original 1920s Vintage COLORADO U. HIGHWAY ROUTE 40S ARROW GRAND JUNCTION 6 MILES Road Metal Sign. Nice steel sign, lays mostly flat except for bullet wounds. Condition is old and used with surface rust on back. Measures approximately 24×30, but I can get exact measurements for you if wanted. Won’t find another one of these. According to Wikipedia U. From 1926 to 1935 the route split in Manhattan, Kansas, into “40N” and “40S” routes; the two routes met again in Limon, Colorado. The “40S” route continued on to Grand Junction, Colorado. In 1935, the split routes were eliminated. US 40N between Manhattan and Limon and then US 40S from Limon to Grand Junction was replaced by U. Route 24, the remainder was renumbered as simply US 40.
