Made to the exact standards as used from 1985 to the present along this historic highway. US-66 was decommissioned from the national system in 1985, to become state routes in the various states it passed through. This variant of the Kansas sunflower shield uses the shorter, wider Series D numerals that KDOT seemed to have used interchangeably with the taller, narrower Series C numbers along this highway. An original of these is most likely to be found in active service along K-66. The authorities know where they are supposed to be-on their posts, not in the trunk of your car. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without chancing legal trouble. The sign is 15 by 15 inches, and weighs 5 lb. This is a high quality, non-reflective replica sign printed on heavy steel. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality.
