Entering Sierra National Forest sign. Up for sale today is this Sierra National Forest sign, as seen in California. Made to the exact US Forest Service standards as used starting in the 1960s or so. This particular National Forest is in between Yosemite and Kings Canyon national parks, on the west slope of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Please note that I can make this sign for any of our National Forests, from Allegheny to Willamette, or anything else you’d like for the sign to say. An original of these is not only very rare to find scrapped, but is a herculean effort to transport; they are about six or eight feet wide. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without chancing legal trouble… This sign has been rescaled to a much more convenient 21 by 14 inches, and weighs about 6 lb. If you would like a different size sign, please inquire. This is a high quality, heavy steel replica sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. This variant of the Kansas sunflower shield uses the shorter, wider Series D numerals that KDOT seemed to have used interchangeably with the taller, narrower Series C numbers along this highway. An original of these is most likely to be found in active service along K-66. The authorities know where they are supposed to be-on their posts, not in the trunk of your car. Nevada US Route 666 route marker. Up for sale today is this Nevada US Route 666 sign. Made to the exact standards as used between 1928 and 1939 along the highways of Nevada. US Route 666 never entered Nevada; when it existed, it passed through the Four Corners region much further east. Southern Nevada was served by US 466 instead. However, Las Vegas’s reputation as “Sin City” makes it tempting to tweak the number to something a bit more apropos. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without tampering with the national highway numbering system. The sign is 16 by 15 inches, and weighs 4 lb. This sign style was the among first ever US route markers ever posted in Nevada, as the highway department alternated between the porcelain and the embossed styles up to about 1939 or so. Only the porcelain signs got the distinct state-outline logo. In keeping with the theme of the sign, the logo on this one instead reads “Sin City, Las Vegas, Nevada”. The lettering is that used on the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign, which you can find in my other listings. I also have a red-on-black version available for an even more devilish appearance, which can be seen in the design preview images. Please specify in your order notes if you would prefer this version!
