Made to the exact 1927 standards used by United States on its highways, with the addition of the “Thru Traffic” legend added to some signs of this issue. Stop signs in the US were yellow and black beginning with the first national highway sign standards in 1927. The revision of 1948 changed the design to what was essentially a yellow version of the modern sign. The familiar modern red-and-white sign was introduced in 1954. An original of these is very hard to come by. They were retired from the roads of the United States long ago, with most of them being destroyed and only a few examples circulating on the collector’s market. An original would easily run many hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the collector’s market. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without breaking the bank. The sign is 16 by 16 inches, and weighs 5 lb. This is a high quality, non-reflective replica sign printed on heavy steel. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality.
