Kansas K- 66 route marker. Up for sale today is this Kansas K-66 sign. Made to the exact standards as used from 1985 to the present along this historic highway. US-66 was decommissioned from the national system in 1985, to become state routes in the various states it passed through. This variant of the Kansas sunflower shield uses the shorter, wider Series D numerals that KDOT seemed to have used interchangeably with the taller, narrower Series C numbers along this highway. An original of these is most likely to be found in active service along K-66. The authorities know where they are supposed to be-on their posts, not in the trunk of your car. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without chancing legal trouble. The sign is 12 by 12 inches, and weighs 3 lb. This is a high quality, non-reflective replica sign printed on heavy steel. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. Nevada US route 666 highway marker road sign Las Vegas Sin City 16x15
Nevada US Route 666 route marker. Up for sale today is this Nevada US Route 666 sign. Made to the exact standards as used between 1928 and 1939 along the highways of Nevada. US Route 666 never entered Nevada; when it existed, it passed through the Four Corners region much further east. Southern Nevada was served by US 466 instead. However, Las Vegas’s reputation as “Sin City” makes it tempting to tweak the number to something a bit more apropos. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without tampering with the national highway numbering system. The sign is 16 by 15 inches, and weighs 4 lb. This sign style was the among first ever US route markers ever posted in Nevada, as the highway department alternated between the porcelain and the embossed styles up to about 1939 or so. Only the porcelain signs got the distinct state-outline logo. In keeping with the theme of the sign, the logo on this one instead reads “Sin City, Las Vegas, Nevada”. The lettering is that used on the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign, which you can find in my other listings. I also have a red-on-black version available for an even more devilish appearance, which can be seen in the design preview images. Please specify in your order notes if you would prefer this version! We will produce the usual black-on-white color scheme otherwise. This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Please do see my other auctions for quality Nevada state and Interstate route markers! Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style?
