Maine US Route 1 highway marker road sign Atlantic Coast Fort Kent 1946 24x24
Maine US Route 1 route marker. Up for sale today is this Maine US Route 1 sign. Made to the exact 1946 standard, as used between then and the 1950s along this famous road. This variant of the route shield uses the LeHay font that’s associated with vintage Maine signage. Route 1 is the eastern seaboard’s longest highway, totaling over 1700 miles between Fort Kent, Maine and Key West, Florida. The Maine segment starts almost at the top of the world at Fort Kent and continues to the Canadian border crossing points of Houlton and Calais before following the Atlantic Ocean coastline through Portland to Kittery and then into New Hampshire at Portsmouth. An original of these is very hard to come by. They were retired from the roads of Maine long ago, with most of them being destroyed and only a few examples circulating on the collector’s market. An original would easily run many hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the collector’s market. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without breaking the bank. The sign is 24 by 24 inches, and weighs 11 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel replica sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Please do see my other auctions for quality Maine state and Interstate route markers! Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style? I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A. Life doesn’t happen along the interstates. It’s against the law. Figure about 13 lb. The watermark and bear logo in the design preview will not appear on the actual sign. We have begun adding a watermark because we have had problems with other companies copying our artwork to make lesser-quality imitations. You will only get this high level of quality in design and materials from Signs by Jake.

Seattle, Washington city limit sign. Up for sale today is this Seattle city limit boundary sign, from Washington. Made to the exact state standards used in the 1930s, with the sign cut out in the shape of Washington. This incredibly cool idea was unique to the state of Washington, and as far as we know never copied by any other state. Eventually Washington shifted to merely printing the state outline on a rectangular blank, and then dispensing with it entirely. The population figure given is period-accurate, and is that given in the 1930 U. I can make this city limit sign for any city or town in Washington. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped; they have long since been retired from service. You can expect to pay many hundreds of dollars to obtain one-if any even survive. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without the hassle and expense of tracking one down on the collector’s market. Our Seattle city limit sign is flat printed on steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 6 lb. And is 21 by 14 inches. If you would like a different size, city name, or population number, please do not hesitate to inquire. This is a high quality, heavy steel, non-reflective sign-perfect for indoor or outdoor display. I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from bygone eras. Dixon, Sacramento, Vacaville, San Francisco highway sign. Up for sale today is this Dixon, Sacramento, Vacaville, San Francisco sign, as would have appeared on the Lincoln Highway long ago. The sign is made to the 1919 specification of the California State Auto Association, with the logo at the bottom (as well as the association name at the sides) and with sharp corners. Later generations changed to rounded corners for safety, in case an unexpected kinetic event caused the darn thing to come flying through the windshield. The sign is 17 from point to point across the long axis, and 13 up and down the short axis and weighs 3 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel remake that has the same high gloss and is indistinguishable from the original early 1910s porcelain sign. I can of course make these signs with any city names of your choice, and not just this style, even the classic US and state route markers, and the mileage and direction guide signs, from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A. Figure about 5 lb. The watermark and bear logo in the design preview will not appear on the actual sign. We have begun adding a watermark because we have had problems with other companies copying our artwork to make lesser-quality imitations. You will only get this high level of quality in design and materials from Signs by Jake. Life doesn’t happen along the interstates. It’s against the law.
