There will likely never be a real Interstate numbered 666-high incidence of sign theft on the former US 666 have dissuaded highway officials from ever creating one-but if one did exist, geography and Interstate numbering rules dictate it would be in northern Virginia, where I-66 can be found. This sign is made to the exact 1961 standard from the origins of the Eisenhower interstate highway system. The wider shields came with the revision of 1961-previously, three-digit route markers were the same size as two-digit, but with narrower numerals. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style-often with the state name omitted! -in 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 2 lb. And is 12 by 10 inches. It is a non-reflective sign-perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. If you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one! This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
