This is a Mid Century 1959, forty nine mile scenic drive vintage genuine porcelain sign and it is in excellent condition, with vibrant and rich colors just as it had when originally manufactured. STILL has a nice glossy shine as it is actual porcelain. A true collectible piece that displays beautifully. The 49 mile scenic drive was created in 1938 by the City of San Francisco to showcase the city’s beauty to visitors and highlight major landmarks. This is the most iconic version of the sign and features the stylized seagull design which was created in 1955 by a local artist. Minor chips in the outer field, as well as some moderate rusting around the mounting holes, as is to be expected from being displayed outside and hanging in the elements. Really, beautiful layers of porcelain. It is USED and was hanging being displayed outside.
