The sign is made to the earliest specification used by the city to designate one-way streets, dating back to the 1920s or so. The sign is cut in the shape of a fletched arrow, with the endorsement Police Dept. This style was replaced by a version without the fletchings on the tail, and using modern highway sign fonts, in the 1950s. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped; they have long since been retired from service. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without the need of a time machine. The sign is 36 by 9 inches, and weighs about 5 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel remake, printed on one side for economical display against a wall or other flat surface. It is a non-reflective sign, making it ideal for ordinary display, inside or out. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
