Vintage Metal Sign

This is a rare sign; you will be hard pressed to find another antique Wisconsin Fur Farm embossed sign in better condition than this one. This is my LAST ONE. This one was issued by the Wisconsin Conservation Dep’t. For your consideration is this absolutely stunning and very scarce antique embossed metal painted sign produced and issued by the state of Wisconsin Conservation Department. Based upon my internet research, and what I have been advised over the years, the sign possibly dates to the mid 1920’s to early 1940’s. Also according to my internet research. In 1915 the state of Wisconsin created the Wisconsin Conservation Commission which brought together the fish, game, and forestry functions marking a new era in Wisconsin natural resource regulation. Fur farming was a big part of the economy in Wisconsin in the 1930’s and 1940’s. In 1939 there were more than 1,200 licensed fur farms in the state, including mink, muskrat, and raccoon ranches. This sign is truly a remarkable find as you rarely come across any of these signs much less one in this great of condition. I acquired this sign from an estate sale of an older man who told me it was originally his grandfather’s sign from back in the day. This sign is in remarkable original condition compared to that sign! The painted sign has green letters and border and is made out of an embossed metal (probably steel). The sign measures approximately 10-7/8″ tall and 9-7/8″ wide. The sign features (5) five lines of words that read as follows. Please refer to the description photos for more details about what I have described. Overall, this is a genuine and authentic state issued sign that remains in extremely good condition for being as old as it is. Inasmuch, this sign will display beautifully wherever it is hung. The front surface of the sign has acquired natural patina from age and shows to have a few small areas of minor to moderate rust spots located along the edges and four corners. The noted rust is clearly depicted in the description photos. Please refer to all description photos to confirm the current condition of the sign and for more details about what I have described. The back of the sign is also painted and remains in very nice condition with a few areas of scattered minor to moderate rust spots located along the outer edge and four corners.
