Made to the exact 1957 standard from the origins of the Eisenhower interstate highway system. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style-often with the state name omitted! -in 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. Since supplanting the portion of US 66 west of Oklahoma City, Interstate 40 has been a critical link in Oklahoma’s transportation system. It is the main route into the state from the ports on the west coast. It connects OKC, the state capital, with many of the mid-sized outlying towns in both the west (Sayre, Clinton, Weatherford, El Reno) and the east (Shawnee, Henryetta, Sallisaw), and the city’s east and west suburbs (Yukon, Del City, Midwest City). This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 11 lb. And is 24 by 24 inches. It is a non-reflective sign-perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. If you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one! This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
