This sign is posted at crossings of creeks and streams that drain to the Hudson River. The fish shown on the sign is an Atlantic sturgeon, the largest fish found in the river. An original of these is most likely to be found in active service on the roads of upstate New York. The New York State Police knows where they are supposed to be-on their posts, not in the trunk of your car. Maryland Severn River highway sign. Up for sale today is this Maryland Severn River highway sign. Made to the exact 1944 state specifications used by the State Roads Commission for signs of this type. This would have been found on one of the two highway bridges that cross the Severn River, a tidal estuary connected to Chesapeake Bay. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. They have disappeared from the roads of Maryland many years ago, replaced with the modern issue. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without paying an arm and a leg on the collector’s market. The sign is 21 by 14 inches, and weighs 7 lb. 16 1/2 by 16 inch Kansas US route 75 highway sign. The sign is made to the early-1960s standard that has “US” above the number, and smooth yellow-white reflective sheeting. This standard was used from approximately 1961 to 1967. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is screen printed on reflective sheeting, on steel. It lies completely straight and flat, and has patina commensurate with its service. Signs guaranteed old, original, authentic.
