The sign is made to an approximately 1914 specification of the California State Auto Association, with no logo at the bottom-just the association name at the sides. Later generations added a logo and changed to rounded corners for safety, in case an unexpected kinetic event caused the darn thing to come flying through the windshield. One original sign with these destinations is known to exist. It is in a private collection and is not going anywhere; if it ever did it would command a substantial premium.
