Made to the exact 1961 standard from the origins of the Eisenhower interstate highway system. The wider shields came with the revision of 1961 – previously, three-digit route markers were the same size as two-digit, but with narrower numerals. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style – often with the state name omitted! – in 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 2 pounds, 15 ounces, and is 12.6 by 10.8 inches – a faithful rescaling of the original 21×18, 28×24, and 42×36 sizes specified in the 1961 signage manual. It is a non-reflective sign – perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. If you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one! Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. U p for sale today is this Georgia I-285 Atlanta Loop sign, from the opening ceremony of October 15th, 1969, when the road was completed all the way around Atlanta with at least two lanes in each direction. Nowadays of course it’s up to about six lanes in each direction, and a travel speed of 90. Or is that 90 lanes with a travel speed of six? A n original of these is not only very rare to find scrapped, but is a herculean effort to transport; also, as far as I know, they only made one and probably discarded it immediately (along with good old Ax-Handle Les). So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without having to dust off the time machine. The sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 32 pounds, 10 ounces. The freeway signs in use in the field are much more colossal – this one is a precise rescaling of the freeway style sign down to a much more manageable 40×32. It is a non-reflective sign – perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. If you would like a larger size version, or a reflective one, please ask as I can certainly make one! This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. IMSA Series (Auto Racing). Unsure of Driver of car shown , but I believe this is the IMSA ” International Motor Sports Association” Camel GT Challenge Series shot at the Atlanta Road Race Course , not sure which turn this is. My guess is this is a Porsche 911 Carrera. This is an original , authentic , old store stock metal sign , excellent condition , not mint NOS , still very nice , with minor storage wear. This sign does shows light wear around corners and side/edges see scans. The top center mounting hole shows small amount of wear. Measures aprox 35″ x 59″ inchs , large size , aprox 3×5 feet. This would have been placed outside a Gas Station or Convenience store. Old stock , store sign. This sign can be picked up at my collectibles store in Spencer NC , which is half way between Charlotte and Greensboro North Carolina. This sign may also be picked up at the. 3rd Annual Carolina Pickers Festival Event. 1980’s & earlier outdoor/indoor advertising swap-meet on Friday/Sat , July 26 – July 27th , Rowan County Fairgrounds , Julian Road , Salisbury North Carolina.
