The sign is made to the 1910s specification used by the city to designate this famous street in the heart of New York City. This is the last style of porcelain sign before retroreflective signage, unfortunately not in the distinct shape any longer, were introduced in 1950s. I can of course make any street, any block number, found anywhere in the Big Apple, and everywhere else too! This sign is double-sided. Each side features a complementary legend: one side with the arrow pointing left, the other side with the arrow pointing right, so that they point in the same direction on the physical sign. T he sign is the original size of 22 by 12 inches, and weighs about 5 pounds, 3 ounces. This is a high quality, heavy steel remake , very much reminiscent of the classic porcelain appearance of the original signs. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. M ade to the 1919 specification of the California State Auto Association, with the logo at the bottom (as well as the association name at the sides) and with sharp corners. Later generations changed to rounded corners for safety, in case an unexpected kinetic event caused the darn thing to come flying through the windshield. The sign is 18 1/2 inches on a side (approximately 29 inches across the long axis, and 23 up and down the short axis), and weighs 8 pounds, 12 ounces. The original of these signs, complete with the logo of the California State Auto Association, is likely long since lost. This is a high quality, heavy steel remake that has the same high gloss and is indistinguishable from the original early 1910s porcelain sign.
