Route 1 is the eastern seaboard’s longest highway, totaling over 1700 miles between Fort Kent, Maine and Key West, Florida. The Maine segment starts almost at the top of the world at Fort Kent and continues to the Canadian border crossing points of Houlton and Calais before following the Atlantic Ocean coastline through Portland to Kittery and then into New Hampshire at Portsmouth. An original of these is very hard to come by. They were retired from the roads of Maine long ago, with most of them being destroyed and only a few examples circulating on the collector’s market. Vintage 1960s Coast To Coast Stores Embossed Self Framed 2 Piece Metal Sign 95. Please view all pics for condition. Shows wear from being used and from storage. Surfaces have some scuffs, and scratches. Has some spots of surface rust on the bottom edge. Sign is embossed, with a self framed edge. Looks to be dated 1968. This sign is in two pieces, and is made to bolt/screw together on a wall. Very nice colors, and graphics. Overall displays very well! Measures: 94 1/2″ Wide x 19 1/2″ Tall.
