It more or less functions as an aquatic speed limit sign, requiring pilots of boats and other watercraft to proceed slowly enough that they do not leave a wake behind their craft. These signs are particularly common off the Florida coast, where they are used to protect manatees. As an added bonus, you can also use it to help protect your naps from unwanted interruptions! An original of these is most likely to be found in active service in the waterways of the United States. The Coast Guard knows where they are supposed to be-on their posts, not on the deck of your boat. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without chancing legal trouble. The sign is 16 by 16 inches, and weighs 6 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. 18 by 24 inch SPEED LIMIT 10 highway sign. The sign dates to the early 1950s or so. It is one of the last non-reflective stamped signs made before reflective materials became prevalent starting around 1953. Condition is as shown in the photos.
