There will likely never be a real Interstate numbered 666-high incidence of sign theft on the former US 666 have dissuaded highway officials from ever creating one-but if one did exist, geography and Interstate numbering rules dictate it would be in northern Virginia, where I-66 can be found. This sign is made to the exact 1961 standard from the origins of the Eisenhower interstate highway system. The wider shields came with the revision of 1961-previously, three-digit route markers were the same size as two-digit, but with narrower numerals. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style-often with the state name omitted! -in 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 13 lb. And is 28 by 24 inches. It is a non-reflective sign-perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. If you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one! This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
