The wider shields came with the revision of 1961 – previously, three-digit route markers were the same size as two-digit, but with narrower numerals. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style – often with the state name omitted! – in 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 2 pounds, 15 ounces, and is 12.6 by 10.8 inches – a faithful rescaling of the original 21×18, 28×24, and 42×36 sizes specified in the 1961 signage manual. It is a non-reflective sign – perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. If you would like a different size version, please ask as I can certainly make one! Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection.
