Texas Ranch Road 1 route marker. Up for sale today is this Texas Ranch Road 1 highway sign. Made to the exact 1965 standards used for the Farm to Market road system, when the design was first changed to the black square with white text, still in use today. Technically, Ranch Road 1 is not part of the Farm to Market/Ranch to Market road system, but a special designation serving Lyndon B. Johnson’s former ranch near Stonewall. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped; most of them enjoy their active service on the highway and the side streets. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without chancing a run-in with the Texas Rangers. The sign is 12 by 12 inches, and weighs 3 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! 24 by 24 inch Tennessee state secondary route 14 highway sign. The sign is made to the 1971 specification which introduced this specific style of triangular route marker – the primary routes received a new style of route marker in 1982 (the state map at the bottom), while the secondaries have retained this design. This particular sign is of recent manufacture, and is retired from highway service. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is screen print on modern prismatic reflective sheeting on aluminum. It lies completely straight and flat, with patina commensurate with its service. Signs guaranteed old, original, authentic.
