This vintage stand ashtray from Peoria, Illinois features a red and white design with a “No Smoking Beyond This Area” sign. Created in the 1940s or 1950s, this original piece of advertising memorabilia reflects a gas and oil theme, making it a unique and collectible item for enthusiasts of vintage signs and smoking-related artifacts. The ashtray is a nostalgic piece of American history and a perfect addition to any collection of gas and oil memorabilia. Up for sale is a fantastic piece of mid-century industrial Americana: an original 1940s-1950s freestanding SIPCO “Dunking Station” industrial safety smoking stand, manufactured by the Standard Industrial Products Co. Out of Peoria, Illinois. This rugged floor model was originally deployed at factory floor thresholds, rail yards, or warehouse entrances to promote fire safety and clean habits in the workplace. Key Features & Condition:The Sign: Features the classic, original oval metal sign with the iconic red background and striking white/black text reading: “SMOKERS – Practice Good Housekeeping – Put’Em Here”. It shows honest, authentic weathering, light surface oxidation, and an incredible aged patina that collectors love. The Canister: Retains its original cast aluminum “dunking” bucket cup mounted securely to the frame. The face of the canister still proudly shows the original raised SIPCO manufacturing stamp. The Stand: Comes completely intact with its original vertical steel support post and heavy, dome-shaped cast iron weighted base. The entire unit stands firmly and does not rock or wobble. This is an absolute statement piece for a workshop, garage, patio, porch, or man cave. It is highly sought after by collectors of vintage advertising, factory relics, and industrial decor. Please see high-resolution photos for exact cosmetic condition.

Mississippi Death Here marker. Up for sale today is this Mississippi Death Here highway sign. Mississippi posted signs like this, marking the spot where fatalities due to traffic accidents occurred, in the early days of the state’s highway system. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. They vanished from the back roads of Mississippi many years ago. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without paying an arm and a leg on the collector’s market. The sign is 16 by 16 inches, and weighs 6 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Please do see my other auctions for quality Mississippi Interstate and US route markers! I can of course make signs not just in this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A. Life doesn’t happen along the interstates. It’s against the law. Figure about 8 lb. The watermark and bear logo in the design preview will not appear on the actual sign. We have begun adding a watermark because we have had problems with other companies copying our artwork to make lesser-quality imitations. You will only get this high level of quality in design and materials from Signs by Jake.
