Clipper Heritage Trail Vintage 1969 Metal Sign 12x18, Newburyport Massachusetts
Original metal ” Clipper Trail ” sign. Over 50 years ago this sign marked the Clipper Heritage Trail in Newburyport, Massachusetts. (see historical information below). Attached vertical metal bracket at the back (1″ x 14″). Original blue and white paint. Black paint on the back side. Weighs about 3.5 pounds. Old, retired sign with paint loss (see the photos). Otherwise in good condition. In 1969 an historical walking trail, the ” Clipper Trail, ” was established in Newburyport, Massachusetts, which visitors could follow. The Clipper Trail sign was designed by Edward K. Piel, a model shipbuilder and founder of Piel Craftsmen, and also head of the Chamber’s tourist planning committee. The blue and white signs were placed throughout the city along historical points of interest. Many years later the original “Clipper Trail” was updated to the ” Clipper Heritage Trail”, and granite pavers were installed in the brick sidewalk in front of various historical points of interests in the downtown area. The granite pavers incorporate Mr. Piel’s original design of the Clipper Trail vessel. Today the Clipper Heritage Trail is a series of self-guided history tours of Newburyport, MA, where visitors can “step back in time and walk in the footsteps of shipbuilders and sea captains; bakers, clam diggers and comb makers; silversmiths and soldiers; abolitionists and African Americans; and authors and artists “, where history buffs can explore the hidden corners of a destination where the first settlers of Newbury landed in 1635 on the northern shores of the Parker River.

Up for sale today is this Rampart Boulevard, 600 S. The sign is made to the 1946 specification used by the city of Los Angeles to designate this famous street. This is the last style of porcelain sign before retroreflective signage, unfortunately not in the distinct shape any longer, were introduced in 1969. I can of course make any street, any block number, found anywhere in the City of Angels, and everywhere else too! I can make street signs for any city and street; inquire about your home town! The sign is flat printed on steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 6 lb. And is 30 by 10 inches. If you would like a different size, street name, or block number, please do not hesitate to inquire. This is a high quality, heavy steel, non-reflective sign – perfect for indoor or outdoor display, with great gloss to replicate the old-school porcelain look. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from bygone eras. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A, packed with care, and mailed from zip code 61833. Life doesn’t happen along the interstates. It’s against the law. Please note: The watermark and bear logo in the design preview will not appear on the actual sign. We have begun adding a watermark because we have had problems with other companies copying our artwork to make lesser-quality imitations. You will only get this high level of quality in design and materials from Signs by Jake.
