Made to the exact standards as used from 1929 to 1934 by the Auto Club of Southern California. This guide sign was posted for many years in downtown Victorville approaching the top of Cajon Pass. The route was designated US highways 66, 91, and 395 over the pass, and 66 went all the way to Los Angeles. The new Cajon Pass was built in the 1950s and was renumbered to interstate 15 by 1972. It remains the primary road to get into Southern California from the northeast, and is used by thousands of hopefuls heading to Las Vegas every weekend. The original of this guide sign, complete with the logo of the Automobile Club of Southern California, would cost many thousands of dollars – if it even survives! Only historic photos of it are known. This is a faithful remake to the correct size (30 x 18 inches) manufactured on heavy steel with the correct layout, fonts and colors.
