Illinois US route 24 highway road sign shield diecut 16×16 1960s 2978
16 1/2 by 16 inch Illinois US route 24 highway marker. Made to the 1948 federal specification that Illinois re-adopted in 1961, complete with “US” above the number. Illinois used this style of route marker until the early 1970s. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is black screen print on smooth yellow Engineer Grade Scotchlite reflective sheeting, on steel. It lies completely straight and flat, and has patina commensurate with its service. Signs guaranteed old, original, authentic.
