The wider shields came with the revision of 1961 – previously, three-digit route markers were the same size as two-digit, but with narrower numerals. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style – often with the state name omitted! – in 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This particular route runs for 83.71 mi. (134.72 km), and, along with the parts of I-275 in Indiana and Kentucky, forms a complete beltway around the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The road also serves the communities of Montgomery and Colerain Township along the way. I can, of course, make this sign with any route or destination of your choice.
