Rare 1904 Porcelain Sign, India’s Protected Monuments Warning Notice, Genuine British Era Sign. For sale Rare 1904 Porcelain Sign, India’s Protected Monuments Warning Notice, Genuine British Era Sign. This is a rare 1904 Protected Monuments Warning Notice Porcelain Sign. It was once fixed during the British Era at an heritage monument in Cochin, India, in 1904. Subsequently this porcelain sign was replaced in 1958 by then Government of India’s new revised porcelain sign. However, yet again the 1958 sign was replaced by a plastic sign in 2010, see last two images. This 1904 sign may be the oldest Porcelain Sign from India (120 years). Due to weathering and age, it shows porcelain chipping, corrosion and wear mainly to the corners, see images. The Sign measures approx. 14½ x 16 inch and weighs around 1.5 kg.
