Illinois Route 53 marker. Up for sale today is this Illinois Route 53 sign. Made to the exact standards as used in 1934 along this historic highway, with the state outline, which no longer appears on Illinois route markers. This particular section of the route runs for 82.02 mi. (132.00 km) from its intersection with Interstate 55 at the southwest end to its junction with State Route 83 in Long Grove at the northeast end, going through the suburbs of Chicago such as Romeoville, Lockport, Lisle, and Elk Grove Village along the way. I can, of course, make this sign with any route or destination of your choice. Signs of this type have long since disappeared from the highways of Illinois. An original is likely to cost you many hundreds or even thousands of dollars on the collector’s market. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece commemorating all the fun you and your loved ones have had along this lovely route… Without breaking the bank.
