The sign very likely dates back to the opening of the hospital in 1966 – it is located in Neptune Township, and now known as the Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center. 1930s-looking traffic signal says Stop Accidents, Stay Alive, Drive Safely. Made to the 1951 specification that introduced this particular font and layout on the flat shields – the previous ones had a bottom rocker with the word “highway”. Kansas used this design, with only minor variation, until 1978. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is black screen print on reflective beaded yellow paint on steel. It lies almost completely straight and flat with generous helpings of patina. Signs guaranteed old, original, authentic.
