Vintage Texas Metal Security Sign, $500.00 REWARD
This sign is a nice example of an early Texas security sign. The sign does have wear and some minor smudges. The holes do not look disturbed, but there light rust on bottom left side and along the bottom of the sign. There also appears to be very light oxidation consistent with being in the sun. There is a factory red paint smudge on the right side outline. There is also red paint near the holes on the back of the sign. There are small scratches within the blue star, but do not take away from the great display value of this sign. Overall, the paint is in nice condition. This sign was a road sign. It is metal only not porcelain and it is a flexible gauge of metal (it wobbles and bends). Road signs were double sided. This sign was in a barn and the better display side was against the wood. I have had this thinner tin like metal sign for around 15 years or so. I haven’t found anything like it and the history behind it as a company that was is in downtown Knoxville Tenn is interesting. The company closed operations in 1976 – I believe. Look closely at the photos. I don’t know how many – if any of these “Feeds” signs are still out there. I haven’t seen any while searching. Great item for a Knoxville business or for historical buffs.
