Tennessee state secondary route 360 highway road sign shield 30×24 triangle DDIL
30 by 24 inch Tennessee state secondary route 360 highway sign. The sign is made to the 1971 specification which introduced the wide route markers for three-digit numbers – the primary routes received a new style of route marker in 1982 (the state map at the bottom), while the secondaries have retained this design. This particular sign is of recent manufacture, and is retired from highway service. Condition is as shown in the photos. Sign is screen print on modern prismatic reflective sheeting on aluminum. Made to the exact 1961 standard from the origins of the Eisenhower interstate highway system. The wider shields came with the revision of 1961 – previously, three-digit route markers were the same size as two-digit, but with narrower numerals. This design was supplanted by the modern shield style – often with the state name omitted! – in 1971, and it gets harder and harder to find the original-style interstate route markers in many states. This sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It weighs about 2 pounds, 15 ounces, and is 12.6 by 10.8 inches – a faithful rescaling of the original 21×18, 28×24, and 42×36 sizes specified in the 1961 signage manual. Antique Iron Cemetery Sign Haven of Rest Haunted Hotel Ashland Alabama Rare
Up for sale: This is a unique 19th Century sign I received from a friend. He had it in his house for over 40 years. It came out of the Clairmont Springs Resort(see last picture) in Ashland Alabama. I’m not sure what cemetery it came out of or how long this was hanging in the resort as the resort was built in 1909. The hotel burned down in the 70’s and was known as one of the most haunted places in the south. Around the resort were several springs that were said to have healing elements. There was a train stop there and politicians and actors would stop in and stay the night. It’s also believed that Al Capone stayed there as well as he wrote about staying at a rural East Central Alabama hotel in his letters. The sign is made of iron. With raised letters and measures 4.5′ long and 19 wide. The iron is half an inch in thickness. Heavy and weighs close to 50 lbs. A really rare piece for a collector.
