New York City One Way sign. Up for sale today is this New York City One Way sign. The sign is made to the earliest specification used by the city to designate one-way streets, dating back to the 1920s or so. The sign is cut in the shape of a fletched arrow, with the endorsement Police Dept. This style was replaced by a version without the fletchings on the tail, and using modern highway sign fonts, in the 1950s. Take this opportunity to show your love for New York and own a piece of roadside history all in one! An original of these is very rare to find scrapped; they have long since been retired from service. So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without the need of a time machine. The sign is 36 by 9 inches, and weighs about 5 lb. This is a high quality, heavy steel remake, printed on one side for economical display against a wall or other flat surface. It is a non-reflective sign, making it ideal for ordinary display, inside or out. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Want a sign pointing left, a double-sided one, or a different size? I can of course make these signs not just in this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from bygone eras. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A. Figure about 7 lb. The watermark and bear logo in the design preview will not appear on the actual sign. We have begun adding a watermark because we have had problems with other companies copying our artwork to make lesser-quality imitations. You will only get this high level of quality in design and materials from Signs by Jake. Life doesn’t happen along the interstates. It’s against the law.
