Nebraska Highway 2 route marker. Up for sale today is this Nebraska Highway 2 sign. Made to the exact standards as used from 1975 to the present along this historic highway. Highway 2, or N-2, is the longest route in Nebraska, going from the southeast corner of the state to the northwest. The Nebraska state route marker has always featured the Conestoga wagon design as seen here, complete with pioneer man, woman, and oxen. Over the years, the wagon has gotten smaller and the route number has gotten larger for practical reasons, with the general layout of a trapezoid on a square blank first appearing in the early 1970s. In this sign designer’s humble opinion, the Nebraska covered wagons old and new are the best route marker designs on the planet. An original of these is most likely to be found in active service along Highway 2. The authorities know where they are supposed to be-on their posts, not in the trunk of your car. So here’s your chance to get your hands on a fantastic display piece… Without chancing legal trouble. The sign is 16 by 16 inches, and weighs 6 lb. This is a high quality, non-reflective replica sign printed on heavy steel. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! Please do see my other auctions for quality Nebraska US and state route markers! Would you like a number not seen here? Or perhaps a different style? I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A. Life doesn’t happen along the interstates. It’s against the law. Figure about 8 lb. The watermark and bear logo in the design preview will not appear on the actual sign. We have begun adding a watermark because we have had problems with other companies copying our artwork to make lesser-quality imitations. You will only get this high level of quality in design and materials from Signs by Jake.
