Made to the exact standards as used from the 1910s to the 1930s by the US Forest Service to guide hikers along the trails, roads, and highways so they wouldn’t get lost and possibly eaten by bears. The signs were posted in the National Forests of all 50 states; this one is from Oregon. Designed in the style of the signs of the early 20th century, this sign is printed to the highest standards of quality on heavy steel with great gloss to replicate the old-school porcelain look. It is 20 by 16 inches, and weighs about 8 lb. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This sign is made to the exact early 1960s standard from when the trail was first signed with the crow graphic. An original of these is very rare to find scrapped. Most of them have vanished from the back roads of British Columbia many years ago, replaced with the modern issue.
